Program Overview

• 10 week long, non-credit, university-wide capstone program hosted by Emory Center of AI Learning in collaboration with external non-profit project sponsors including Better Business Bureau, Invest Atlanta, Michael C. Carlos Museum, Carter Center, Tech Bridge
• With the goal of exposing students to real world data questions and analysis for the “good”

• Each meeting consists of short lectures and

  Lecture topics designed and taught in Spring 2024 include: data exploration workflow, handling CSVs, geospatial data, using US census data via API, skipping errors in a loop, best Pandas join practice, Pandas indexing, how to handle missing values in data, visualization, communicating results to non-data audience

  Advising topics include: developing research questions, how to explore data from multiple database, exploratory data analysis, text classification with NLP, how to validate a text classification scheme
